Today, I wanted to share a story about Paul with you. He had filed for bankruptcy when he was going through foreclosure for the first time. He had been making the payment for a few years, but it was really challenging. Sometime in year three, Paul was told he would have to sell his home in order to complete the bankruptcy process.
Now, I’m not exactly sure what happened for the courts and attorney to decide that, but I do know that he had to sell his home, and the bankruptcy couldn’t be discharged until he did.
Paul struggled with trying to use companies we have all seen the commercials for… While those are fairly decent companies, he had a tough experience. They gave him an offer, and after he accepted it, they told him he would have to do some repairs to the house. After those repairs, they had him do more to the house. He was pretty frustrated. Unfortunately, because he was under a contract with them, he had to suffer from their punches and lick his wounds.
He was frustrated he had to sell his home when he had gone bankrupt to save it. He was frustrated that he was trying to get the most money out of his home, and instead, it was costing him money, time, and patience. He was frustrated that he didn’t really understand what was going on. He was hurt and beaten down.
He wished he could’ve found us before he did the bankruptcy and go ahead and sell his home without all the false hopes, pain, and frustrations of the road he chose.
If only we had a time machine…
But I share this story because Paul isn’t alone.
Many people who go the bankruptcy route end up having to sell their homes after all.
Many people try to get the most out of their house instead of going with the best offer and then have to go through the challenges that come with everything that happens between accepting an offer and closing the sale.
Do you really want to go through any of that… if you don’t have to?
